Public Star Party — October 17, 2026

Explore the sky from Griffith Observatory’s lawn at the free Public Star Party on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 2:00–9:45 PM.

Volunteer astronomers from the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, Los Angeles Sidewalk Astronomers, and The Planetary Society share views of the Sun, Moon, and visible planets through telescopes. Visitors of all ages can ask questions and learn about astronomy alongside experienced observers.

The gathering takes place on the Observatory lawn at 2800 East Observatory Road, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Admission is free. Telescope viewing ends at 9:45 PM, and lines close earlier to allow all viewing to finish by that time. Unauthorized private telescopes are not permitted on Observatory grounds.

See the official event page for current details, or visit Griffith Observatory for visitor information.
